This is the scouting UFO for the nazis in the movie Iron Sky [link] which is having it's theatrical release (atleast in finland) today.
This is the Rheingold. I did the textures for this thing. At the top you see the model made by Sebastian Barquin. Below the texture work I did. All designed by our awesome art director Jussi Lehtiniemi.
(These are my personal renderings and don't do justice to the rest of the film.)
You worked on Iron Sky? I love that film!! I guess you never know who you'll run across at DA. ^^ The flying saucers were really cool. I liked how they adjusted their orientation and propelled themselves using small rocket engines as well as some sort of main antigravity drive- it looked really neat, and different from most of the other flying saucers seen on film.
do you have any drawings or diagrams of the walkyrie ships? i would like to build a model of one but first i need to see how they look froma ll angles.
Sorry, can't help you much there. I'm hoping they release official pictures of the ships sometime in the future. The walkyrie even had line drawings made of it from all angles.
i have never scratchbuilt a model never mind a nazi ufo. i can not see anyone producing this as a model either so i am forced to start looking for as many pictures of the walkyries as i can find.... now that i have the iron sky dvd this will be easier but i am not sure how to go about this, should i draw diagrams or just guess at the design and measurements?
I heard from another member of the team that there at least was talk of an art book of sorts. Dunno if such a thing is really coming out, but if it is, it might have some better pictures of the ship.
You know I actually worked on the film... on these ships. There's a few more ships I worked on (such as the walkyrie), but don't have good renders of them.
